I read in the comments that some of you thought it was inappropriate for me not to post about the anniversary of Armenian genocide (which took place just after World War I) and that I was being selfish for spending my day shopping instead.

For those of you who don't already know, I am half Armenian. I do not speak Armenian, but my late father instilled in us a lot of Armenian culture.

Judging by the pictures you have seen on this site and from what the gossip blogs have been saying, I can see why you may have gotten the wrong idea. But that's what the media put out... They didn't know I was leaving for Australia, spending my only free day with my boyfriend, running every possible errand because I won't be home for six weeks. From Australia, I land in Los Angeles and have just a few hours to switch bags before I leave for Shreveport, Louisiana, and won't be back for more than a month!

After my day of running errands, I spent the evening with my late father's side of the family. I went to an Armenian dinner with my family, like we often do. Of course, cameras weren't there for that -- and some things I like to keep private.

But all of the chatter really got me thinking... Do I know as much about my Armenian history as I would like to? The honest answer is... no.

That night at dinner my sisters, brother and I decided it is mandatory that we go to Armenia. None of us have ever been, neither had my dad and neither have my grandparents! My great grandparents were from Armenia and escaped the genocide. No one has been back since. All I know about my country is what I read and pictures I see on the Internet.

My parents couldn't tell us stories because no one has been! So, this generation is going to change that! We don't know when we are going to go, but we four kids have decided it is something we should do! I heard it is beautiful and we are all really excited about it!

I will definately keep you posted on the details of that trip! It would make my dad so proud!

Back when my father was alive, we didn't use digital cameras, so I don't have many pictures with him on my computer. But when I get home I am going to get a scanner so I can show you guys how handsome my daddy was.

I am also going to be honest, I don't speak Armenian (I know, a lot of you have asked). And I don't know all of the historical details -- so if you have some stories to share with me, I would love that!

What does the Armenian genocide mean to you? Let me know!

Good for you Kim! If you do go there, that'll really be something to cherish and be proud of.

Hey Kim!

It's true! Going back to the 'Motherland' is awesome! I'm originally from Bangladesh, but I was born in New York. It was tons of fun visiting my mom and dads old home and visit family! I'm sure you and your siblings will have loads of fun! By the way, I barely speak 'Bangali,' our national language, so don't sweat it! I'm sure you'll pick up on a couple of phrases when you're there! Take pictures! =]

Kim It's so beautiful that you are big enough to respond to those comments:-) It shows that you care about your culture even though you didn't have to say anything at all because you don't owe anyone an explanation regarding your heritage! I am Italian and my parents did not come straight from italy .. It was my GREAT grandparents that are from Italy.. So I as well do not speak italian and I am 28 so we are about the same age.. My grandparents were dead by the time I was born so I don't really know as much about my culture as I would have had I lived in Italy and had the time to spend with My Great Grandparents ... I do like you most of the information I get is from books and off the internet because I have not YET been to Italy which I also plan on doing ! So I understand where you are coming from when you are not born and raised in a country you are not as familar with the culture and language! It's ok your an armanian american mixed with irsih ... And I think it's a wonderful Idea to go to your country just to have that experince! Never feel bad about being blessed GOD put you in a position to be a blessing to others! It's ok at the end of the day when you have worked hours at a photoshoot or spent hours at your boutique to treat yourself that's what life is about seeing the pay off for all the hard work you put into whatever makes you happy! As long as you stay true and grounded and never forget where you came from it's ok to be blessed and live a prosperus life! Some people are bitter because they don't have the strength to be as sucessful as others. But I believe life is what you make it! And GOD has a plan for each of us we were not all meant to be Hollywood stars or models! But we should be greatful and happy with what we do have! We all make mistakes in some way Knowone is PERFECT! We have only one judge and that is GOD! So even if you made bad choices or mistakes the only person who can forgive you and Judge you Is the lord! Remember when ever someone judges you always know that Jesus was judged first! So your not alone as long as you repent to your GOD you are right with HIM and that is all that matters! Keep your head high and keep being REAL even if you have to be an example from a mistake you made in your life it's ok your still human we are all sinner's in one way or another! Stay Beautiful Inside and Out and do not let the Crazy media get the best of you they are awful! They are paid to destroy peoples lives! I lost my dad to cancer as well he was only 45 I know how hard it is! I loved watching your father during the OJ trail... Him and Shapiro and Cockran were BRILLANT attorneys !!! My stepfather is a lawyer but he is a corporate attorney I remember being a kid and always going to LA in the summer because her worked both on the east and west coast! We had a very lucky childhood and got to do alot of things many kids didnt! So I am greatful for the opportunity and hope to make it back to the west coast soon I love LA !!! Stay stong Kim and keep your head high always be yourself your so pretty you dont have to be anyone else but YOU !!!

People so often confuse who someone is with who they think someone is or should be.
As confusing as it may be a person's identity and caracter are shaped by the place where they really are, not by their historical roots and places they've never been and even niether did their parents.
Although, someone may choose to learn more about their historical background, it's just not too intelligent to judge someone based on their PAST that WAS NEVER really THEIR PAST.
So, please, before you judge consider doing some other things, like may be learning more on the subject yourself.

BTW... Not everyone is going to like you ! I have a hard time my whole life with woman in general because I am very pretty!! And I catch hell from all races just because I have 2 beautiful MIXED childeren one girl and one boy! People always compare me to JLO and YOU LOL ... although I don't have all that JUNK in the TRUNK as you ladies LOL ... But I have enough ! And I just try and stay strong and know that people are not always going to like you for whatever reasons... You have to live your life and do whatever makes YOU happy!!! Let everything else go I don't look at you as a STAR even though it's your Job to be in the movies and magazines your still a person you bleed and cry just like anyone else so nothing you do makes you any different than the rest of us in the world. Wow, yeah, you guys should totally go to Armenia and learn more about it. I'm so sure your dad will be proud of you. You guys are good kids. :D

Hi Kim.
I'm also going to Armenia this year!
It's very beautiful there and you must to see you're land.

Kim is Armanian and it's wrong of anyone who is from Armania and 100% Armainian to tell her she is NOT! If her father's father or his father came from Armanian SHE IS ARMAINIAN!!!!! The problem with this world today is you have EXTREMISTS people who have no understanding of humanity and what it means to be human... No matter what religon you are and no matter where you come from we are all GODS childeren!!! And we are all held by the 10 commandments!!! GOD will be the only person to judge us in the end ... Not you or anyone else in this world because as long as you live in the flesh you will ALWAYS be sinner!!! You mrs. or mr. NOT Armanian DO not have the right to tell anyone what they are and what they aren't . KIM is who she is and if she has anyone in her family with Armanian blood than she is too part armainian.. If she did not grow up in her country than she is not going to be as familar with her culture/lanuguage because america is a different culture Kim was raised in america by her american parents which one of them happens to have armanian blood in him which means all of kims brothers and sisters from her father are PART armanian . And Like my grandparents who came to america on the boat they are still Italian. Nothing about them being in america changes that!!! That's why we have terroist attacks and people killing other people over religon because of your attitude on life!!! Anyone who believs in GOD knows that only god has the power or the right to take another life .. And we will all stand before him on judgement day no matter who we are or what we believe in ... This is not foolish talk this is real... You have the right to think Kim is whatever .. But I say to you Kim your father has tuaght you alot about your heritage and thats all that matters. By you wanting to know more about your history only shows you caring about your culture and who you really are! You could slit your throat and give your blood to these bloodsuckers and it wouldn't be enough for them.. Because some people are not kind and understanding. They are radical and extreme so don't pay that any mind. I commend you for wanting to learn more about your history. You have also inspired me to do some reading this week ! Thanks

Shop Girl

Barev! Kim, I think it's great that you decided to learn more about your Armenian heritage. After this post, I feel more respect for you. I think it's important for every person to know where your forefathers come from. You will definitely enjoy your time in Armenia. It's a beautiful country with a long history.
I'm Armenian (with some Greek blood in me). I was born and grew up in Ukraine. Until now I didn't know much about my culture, heritage. I barely speak Armenian. To be honest, sometimes I was a little ashamed of my nationality. But lately, I got so interested in my culture, Armenian history. I started studying my geneology and early Armenian history.
So, I think it's a wonderful idea to learn more about where your roots come from.
God bless you and your family.

Oh and by the way for those of you who bash kim for her PAST mistakes ... A sin is a sin the wagers of sin are all the same! no sin in GOD'S eyes are greater than another. And since we are all born sinner's what right do we really have to throw stones at another person for their sin's ??? Also I noticed I spelt armenian wrong in m posts .. Sorry ! So the next time someone comes on here and talks about Kim's Pat and her mistakes you may want to look at your own life and your own mistakes because your not being judged by kim's tape your being judged by your own sins! So I would really stay focused on cleaning up your own past before you talk about someone else's! And just because kim did not grow up in armenia it does not make her any more or less of an armenian! She shares the same past as any other armenian living in armenia now! That's like me saying well because my kids are only half black that black history does not apply to them! Thats absurd! Because their family on thier DADS side extends all the way back to africa before they were even brought to america as slaves!

Learning about one's history is taking one step closer to learning more about ones self. Good luck on this journey.

hi kim

i live in australia and have never EVEN heard about this armenian genocide thing...

good on you kids for making a pact of one day visiting it... i have italian background -my grandfather- and got no idea, sometimes i think people ask too much from you... but good on you for saying something

take care, i will wake up early to watch u on 'sunrise' tomorrow

kara xxx

Hey Kim
I think its great that you guys are going to Amenia,it will be a real nice experience for you guys! I really wish i could go back and see my "motherland",but unfortunately cause of the regime down there i cant, but hopefully some day ill get to go there=) In the meanwhile ill just travel around and see the rest of the world!!=)

hey Miss kardashian. hope you have fun!!

hey Miss Kardashian. i forgot to mention that i am half Persian (iranian) and i don't know much about my country either, i think it is really great of you to want to take that step and go and see what your country is all about and who you are. Maybe that will make you feel even more closer to your dad. i think he will be really happy that you are going to go to Armenia. don't ever think that he is not with you. he will always be with you watching over you. you are truly a beautiful woman. you have a mix of your mom and your dad in your features... which makes you who you are. and that is beautiful. i know sometimes the comments you read may get to you. which is normal because you are after all human. but sweetie i'm sure at the end of the day you know that you don't have to explain yourself or your actions to anybody but yourself. long as you know what is true that should be all that matters to you. you really are a wonderful role model to me. it is soo nice to see a middle eastern woman doing her thing and sharing her life with us. my birthday is May 5th i am turning 20. inshallah i would like to meet you. i am muslim. Inshallah means (if God wills) do you have muslims friends? i would LOVE to meet you. i look up to you and always will. LOVE YOU !! MUAH!!! when i get married and have kids i plan on telling them about my role model and showing them what a wonderful woman you are. MUAH!!

The Armenian Genocide means a lot to me and I have spent years gathering my family stories about it. I fight for it to be recognized every year and am always trying to do more to help. That said, I think the media was being too hard on you over this. While I think April 24 is an important day that doesn't mean everyone who is any part Armenian has to drop everything and do something. People have their life today to think about as well and if you're someone as busy as Kim you might not have the chance to do something to commemorate it every year. I am really glad you decided to make up for it by going to Armenia though. I was there recently and had a GREAT time, you just have to let yourself go around everywhere. There are so many beautiful attractions and nature all around, so try and get out of the city a lot and see the countryside too. You need to go to this link below, it is a website on travel in Armenia and you can click the top attractions link to see some of the places you have to go. I don't know if you read the comments section but I hope someone gets this message to you if you don't!
http://www.armeniapedia.org/index.php?title=Armenia_Travel_and_Tourism

Kim, I am Turkish and have a lot of Armenian friends in NY/USA and in Turkey as well as Greek friends.
If you want to learn more about your culture, please understand that your history is not about GENOCIDE, which is not proven. You should learn about your entire history and probably visit Turkey on your return as well, stay at "Les Ottoman" like PAris and Ivanka.
Here is what the book ATATURK by Andrew Mango says:
"The Armenians had begun to spill out of their original homeland on the Eastern Anatolian plateau in late Byzantine (Istanbul) times. Under the Ottomans they provided most of the artisans and tradesmen in Anatolia. Ottoman architecture , ceramics, textiles - areas of endeavour where the Ottoman state made a lasting contribution to world civilization - relied in large measure on Armenian craftsmen...."
As said you nood to go to Turkey so see part of Armenian heritage..
God bless all of us - PEACE!
Also..be prepared..our countries (Armenia and Turkey) are not as advanced as Germany, France, Canada..you might be surprised. You need to look through that..
Family and love is he only thing some families have there.

Not only were there the Armenian Genocide..but also the Greek & Assyrian Genocides around the same time (both done by the Turks).

From what the person said above, it is FACT and proven. The turkish government spent millions of dollars to erase it from their history books in schools, libraries, etc. because they will never admit it.

That is part of the reason why they won't be accepted into the UN, until they admit their faults.

I agree with the previous comment. Armenian Genocide is a proven fact. My ancestors were killed in that massacre...some had to escape to different countries like France, the U.S., Argentina.
Turks have to admit Armenian Genocide.

Hi Kim! I think it's a bit unfair the way people are reacting to you about this Armenian genocide day. It's unfair for people to judge you based upon that day simply because you did not openly ackwowledge something does not mean you weren't thinking about it or didn't care about it. People observe and handle things in different ways & not always publicly. I respect you for embracing your wonderful mixed heritage as culture and heritage help to shape and individual. You have taken the high road & responded to some of these ignorant & disparaging remarks in a polite & concise manner. People need to get a life & not knit pick at everything about you because your entire life is not on camera & you should be allowed to have some privacy. I can tell you are a grounded and level headed person who wants to be judged fairly & rightly so. I wish all the best for you & whenever you take that trip, I'm sure it will be a memorable one. Best Wishes

Hey Kim,
I think it's realy great that you're taking interest into your Armenian background because after all one day or another you gotta have some knowledge of where you got that "differnt" look from. I often times hear that i look like you because of the same dark hair big brown eyes tan skin etc. Anyways, i think it's great that you see Armenia. Armenians here aren't much like the ones here with the fancy cars and stuff. There is a lot of poverty and boy do i mean A LOT. I visited in summer 07 and although it was stressful to see your people so behind (technologically and everything else) it was a beautiful experience. The country is beautiful and even though a lot of our history is left behind in the land Turkey has taken from us, it still remains beautiful. If you ever have any questions or are curious about your Armenian side feel free to ask me. Im like a wiz about this stuff. I live in California but I love going there every couple of years. This was my first time on your site. I was like hmmmm let me see what this is about, and im glad i came by. Be proud of where you come from and your beautiful mix. Armenians have a lovely culture (almost as great as the food LOL). So keep updating your thoughts about it. Good Luck in EVERYTHING you do.

Now will you effing haters shut up? You are all so quick to judge her, and think she just shopped all day long. Maybe this will keep you from always jumping to conclusions with Kim.

If you watch the show you can sort of get to know her in a weird way, even though you REALLY can't. But from what I gather she is a really sweet person, but everyone freaks out on her EVERY freakin chance they get.

Like when you all just ASSUMED she was drunk when she posted those pics of her and her family goofing off....God forbid she has fun and enjoys herself.

Anyway....about the post....

I have seen pics of Armenia and all that I see is BEAUTIFUL. And to whoever said the genocide didn't happen bc there isn't proof, shut up bc there is dumb ass.

I hope you take lots of pictures when you go there, something tells me it will be an emotional trip for all of you and remind you of your father, but I think it is such a good idea! Goin back to your roots! Good luck and congrats with the movie!!

xoxo
♥Melissa

Hey Kim,
Let me start off by saying that you are beautiful and that I truly respect you for your decision to learn more about your culture. I have been to Armenia three times and I am gonna go again this summer. Do not miss out on the night life there. The best nightclubs are Chanps Elysees, Club One, and Club Opera. If you want to learn about the Armenian culture while you are there, you should visit Garni and Gekhard Monastery as well as Tsitsernagaberd. Tsitsernagaberd is a memorial for the Armenian Genocide. It has a museum in it that has all the artifacts from the Genocide. For some fun with theatre, you should check out Opera, they have a lot of plays every day. Oh and one more thing, for souvenirs, you guys should check out vernisage. It has the same things as all the other souvenir stores as well as antiques and artifacts for a much less price. Hope you have fun and I hope I see yopu there!!

That is wonderful to hear, Kim! If I were you, I'd have a tour guide come along with you. Armenia is a beautiful place but its almost very poor. They have some beautiful restaurants there as well as some memorable historical sights.

Here is a list of famous Armenians (your father is on the list), as well as Cher, System of a Down, etc
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Armenians

I think one of the most important facts you need to know about Armenia is that Armenia was the first country to accept Christianity as its religion.

Also, watch this video:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=r5oon66fEG8

Also, how come your dad and grandparents never went to Armenia??

Kim, I think that its great that you have decided to go to Armenia. I am also 1/2 Armenian and don't speak Armenian, and I went back a year ago. To be quite honest, I didn't want to go at first because I didn't know what I would do there, but once I was there, I had a blast!!! I stayed at the Mariott which was GORGEOUS because it overlooked everything, the fountains, the scenary, nice restaurants, and it was in the middle of all the fun!

I saw all the beautiful sites (make sure to go see Lake Sevan, Garni Temple, and Edjmiadzin Church, which is considered one of the most ancient churches in the world.

For a fun time at night, I went to the Aragast, which is a restaurant that is on water---they have jazz music at night and its beautiful! There are also other beautiful restaurants that I think you will enjoy, but I don't remember the names. There was live music, delicious food, and entertainment shows at night (Professional Armenian dancing).

Glad you made this decision to go with your family, Kim. I was hesitant at first because I didn't know a lot about my own country, but once I was there, I felt like I was at home. I hope you feel the same way!

Great to hear you're heading to Armenia, Kim. I'm glad you took this judgmental criticism and turned it around like this. I also grew up outside of the Armenian community, though there was on in Orange County. When I finally made it to Armenia, I loved it, and I think you and your family will as well!

Let us know how your planning comes along, and if you have any questions about going!

i think its absolutely disgusting how people put you on such a pedestal and judge every single thing you do. the people who are judging you for not knowing much, do THEY know about themselves? No. As a black person in America, I see my own people live their daily lives forgetting ALL ABOUT their pasts (just using that as an example) and i see white people waltz around who have NO IDEA who they are in the first place. not everyone knows their history, and while they should, just because they dont know doesn't make them bad people. you got your nails done and went shopping. big-effing-deal! people need lives. they need to stop worrying so much about what KIM is doing, and get their own sh*t together. Unfortunately for you Kim, you're in an industry where people who live the most eff'd up lives will run to your site praising you like Jesus or bashign you like you're Satan, judging and forgetting that they too live a life of sin. People need to just stfu and quit trying to bring you down in any and every way they can. live your life. eff anyone who has a problem with that. It's nice to know that you are interested in your culture, I'd like to find out more about my own ancestry and whatnot too. But please dont let these minions bring you down because they don't have room to talk.

HI kim, first of all i love watching the show and hope there will be a third season..I was glad to see that you and your family have decided to go to armenia to learn about your armenian culture...I was wondering though, what is your favorite armenian dish? Does reggie like armenian food? Also, I missed your appearance rencently at the mgm grand casino.. did you enjoy your stay here? take care

I LOVE YOU KIM!

Dear Kim,
I hope you have a great trip!! You might hear from some people esp. Turks denying that the genocide ever occured. They are idiots! They not only have killed Armenians but also Kurds and Greeks!! I hope you have a good trip and have fun!!

Wow, I wasn't expecting you to post something like this. Much respect and admiration! I'm sorry for the mean things everyones been saying...no one knows what you do behind the cameras.
Not to sound condescending, but I'm very proud of you!

: )

HEY KIM THNX FOR BEING SO RESPECTFUL. I AM ARMENIAN MYSELF AND I JUST GET REALLY HAPPY WHEN I SEE PEOPLE LIKE YOU RESPECTING OUR COULTURE. YOUR FANS WERE JUST PROBABLY A LITTLE BIT MAD BUT AFTER READING THIS BLOG IM SURE THEY WILL CHANGE THEIR THOUGHTS ABOUT YOU. YOU ARE AN ARMENIAN, YOU HAVE ARMENIAN BLOOD IN YOU. YOUR ARE VERY PRETTY AND YOU GOT THE ARMENIAN LOOKS
<33

Heyy Kim! Im a big fan & Im armenian too :) Im really happy for you I think ur dad was an awesome guy he reminds me of my dad! I just went to armenia last year & it felt great.. I loved it & i kno youll love it too. Plus you know u look 100% armenian actually you & your bro r the most armenian looking one in your fam. + I h8 it wen ppl say u got implants cuz i know u hav a tru armenian @ss :P
Later!
:)

Hi Kim.. I think its great that your going to visit Armenia, my parents are
Mexican and i really haven't gone much to where my parents are from ( besides the beaches) when i do go i get very negative looks from the females of our age (20's) they look at me as if i'm there to steal there men ,the older people make me feel very welcomed though. I just hope you don't have to encounter the same problems because you are just there for the same reasons as myself to visit family. Love Ya Kim.

usually i never comment on your site, but i really like this post. a lot of folks lose touch with their heritage(historical information, their way of life there),if they have not been taught it. especially if its several generations overdue and i dont think anyone expects you to speak armenian if you were not taught it. i do however think its AMAZING that you are taking the time to learn about your heritage, since some people don't bother (or even know what their heritage is). ARMENIA is amazing, definitely dig into the culture and history a bit before going. i went there last summer. its breath taking!

i also think its ridiculous that people expect you to recognize the genocide just bc you have Armenian blood. armenia has a beautiful history, so dont let the genocide overrule that

P.S let us know if your EVER in Phoenix PLEASE!!!

P.S. you have to check out the city of Yerevan!

hey kim,
well i was reading the past blogs and what people were writing to you about how they lost respect. They are just pathetic. really most armenians are very stubborn and are assholes. (I being half armenian as well.) If they really wanted the armenian genocide to be known they wouldnt wait till the 24th came to march. If you protest you dont just protest one day out of the year,. You have to be dedicated and stand out there every morning till every night to get what you want and these protests and strikes have been done many many times. so standing outside for one whole say isnt going to disturb anyone and your not gonna get what you want out of it.
All that being said. Dont let all them rude selfs get to you, your a beautiful successful person and obviously they are gonna hate on you no matter what you do. I love you for everything you do, your lifestlye and how you present yourself. Just keep being yourself.
Love you!!

For the record and as a response to your commenter ericka who was insulting Armenians for this- it should be clear from reading this that it was the TMZ paparazzi who was giving Kim a hard time over the April 24 thing, NOT ARMENIANS themselves. Those paparazzi probably don't know anything about the Armenian Genocide except that it closed down Wilshire Blvd so they decided to hammer Kim for not being there. This is NOT about Armenians insulting her for it so ericka please lay off Armenians about this. That said they wil be glad to welcome Kim when she arrives in Armenia and I really hope she goes soon!!!

Hi Kim,
I'm so happy you have an interest to go to Armenia and learn more about your heritage from your father's side - I think that would make him so proud, considering how important it is for Armenians. I have a feeling you are a good cook and maybe by learning a few Armenian dishes you will feel more "Armenian"! Please take lots of pictures to post here when you make your trip there! That will be so fun to see!!!!! especially if you take your brother and sisters - omg you guys will have so much fun!!! I wish I could go too! My great grandparents also survived while other family were killed in the genocide, so I consider myself a desendent of survivors.

Most Armenians are asshole? wow.
TMZ.com was the one giving Kim a hard time not Armenians.

They asked her what does the Armenian Genocide mean to you> She said it means alot.

Actually Kim I think you should just say what it means to you instead of asking us. Maybe tell your great grandparents story. You did say it means alot to you, your the star not us.

Kim i love you and your family it's me armani i send you the flowers lol how are you? i am armenian/russian but i was born and raised here in los angeles,ca i have never been there but you should go i'm sure you'll love it and let me know when your going i would love to go the same time...

how much does anyone want to bet that she doesnt go to Armenia? kim is a liar and i dont believe a thing she says. she had to make a somewhat thought provoking post because so many people were coming down on her about not talking about it. typical behavior for this whorebag. She says her grandparents escaped but goes on to say they have never been to armenia. shes dumb as a bag of fucking rocks

I think it is important to get in touch with your heritage. I am glad that you are deciding to find out more about where your family comes from. I think you will have a blast on your trip. I love going back to my country, it makes me get away from all the "fakeness" here and its way more down to earth. I am sure that going to Armenia will show you that not everything is peaches and cream. Make sure you don't just go to the turist areas, go to see the real sides of the country too. Its like Mexico, if you go to Cancun you only see the pretty sides. But to get the whole effect of going to another country you also need to visit the needy parts. Hope you have a blast and the trip shows you the opposite from the glamorous life. I am not being sarcastic or anything, just being real! Because that is how I feel everytime I go back to my country! It makes me more grounded.

uhhm.... vanna. i believe you are the one who is as dumb as a bag of rocks. are you sure she said her GRANDPARENTS escaped or did you conveniently skip the GREAT- portion?

learn to read...

much respect kim!

Kim don't listen to the negative comments i mean your Turkish, Armenian,Russian,German,Irish, and Scottish do people actually believe that you have to acknowledge everything that has to do with does cultures as well.. thats just ridiculous.
Your a mixture of things, that does not mean your gonna go to Scotland one week Turkey another just so that everyone isn't offended, thats absurd don't do anything just to please people, your always gonna have your family, friends and real fans who are going to support you for whatever you decide to do or not to do.

hey kimmm
im a HUGE fan and im Armenian
i cant belive your going to armenia =)
you will love it. my grandparents escaped from the genocide and relocated to Syria. I went in 2004 and it was a great experience. A huge overload of culture just came over me and its such a great feeling.
Make sure you see Mount Ararat and visit all the beautiful churches. Your dad will be really proud of you and your sibling for visiting and seeing where you come from. I hope you have a great time and learn alot.
Loveyou Heaps
Virginia Emirkhanian =) xxxo

Kim,
I wouldn't worry about these ppl who r hassling u over the anniv of da armenian genocide. through u being everywhere i wikipedia armenia and read about the genocide. im a history buff! i guess the genocide isn't very popular b/c i hardly heard of it before. i applaud u for wanting 2 learn more about ur heritage. i think ppl should b proud of their heritage and appreciate it. that can only come from education.

Hi Kim, congratulations on your decision to visit Armenia. You might want to consider charity work during your visit, like supporting an orphanage or helping with an environmental cause. There are mutliple Armenian organizations to work with on this. Contact us if you need further information.

Thanks, Blogian.net

I myself as an Armenian didn't know that much about the Genocide before I started asking questions and researching online.

Here's something brief that I found: Armenian Genocide was planned ahead of time by Talat Pasha and his two friends(1912 after losing the war with Balkans). Armenian Genocide started in the Turkish parliament by arresting all the Armenian diplomats, lawmakers, writers and journalists, then killing them. All Armenian men were gathered for the "army" and killed. The Armenian population was left with women, children and elderly. Then the "deportation" started. Armenians were draggeed in the Syrian deserts with no food or water. The ottoman Empire raped, tortured and killed mercilessly.

The Armenian Genocide ended in 1923 when the modern Turkey was established. Talat Pasha was convicted of genocide in absentia (he ran away to Germany.) He was later shot by Soghomon Tehlirian, whose family was raped and killed in front of his eyes.

That's the backround on it, the tragedy behind the day.

On April 24, Armenians all over gather together to remember what their ancestors went through. Most go to North Hollywood where we marach together in front of the Turkish embabcy demanding our land back, but most importantly demanding the Turks to admit what they did was wrong and admitting what took place was a genocide [which they deny over and over].

It's nice that you are going to visit Armenia.

I hope this helps your visit.

Good for you Kim! I am glad that you addressed this issue and this shows us one that you actually read or comments and that two you are sincere, honest, and open. I don't know too much about armenian culture myself but I have heard the storie of a few ministers that survived the genocide. I congradts you kim on how you have grown and matured. A few years ago I did view you in a negative way, but that now I have gotten to see your personality and your family and how you interact with your fans and the media i love you to death..and you have changed my mind..i dont judge you for the bad things you have done..i pray you move on from them to do better you know and now today you are the only female idol i have and i am one of your biggest fans and supporters. God bless you and your family Kim

Hey kim! I think it's great that you're getting in touch with your armenian heritage! Because we both live in the Diaspora and there are more chances for us and for the generations to come to forget the armenian culture! That's why it's very important to stay close to our roots! And I think that going to Armenia will change your point of view considering the culture, the history! You will be amazed! A lot of things have changed since I was there in 2002! I was only 14 when I went there but it changed my whole perspective and outlook of life! Poverty is still a problem there and you will be greatful for what you have! The ppl there are very nice, but you really have to be careful, cause some ppl might take advantage cause they recognize visitors very easily...Still, you have to go see the churches there are so many of them aswell as Sevana Lidj which if kind of like a beach it's beautiful! The weather during the summertime is amazing! The fruits and veggies are soooo good! I'm sure you will have a great time :) Hope you take a lot of pictures so you can share it with us! Take care!

Concerning the Armenian Genocide, I can honestly say that I have been greatly affected by it, because of my grandfather! He was a witness and a survivor of the Armenian Genocide! He was only 12 years old when he witnessed all the massacres, the rapes and all the horendous things that the Turks did! Unfortunatly, his father died when he was 3 months old and he couldn't find his mother during the deportation! He was raised by the Kurds who took care of him until he went to Syria and got married there. He died last year! He was 105 years old! I am very greatful and thankful to have had such a wise grandfather! He always wanted us to achieve our goals in our studies, in life, in our community and be the best that we could be, because he wanted us to have what he didn't and to be recognized for our hard work! Even at such an old age he still remembered all the details form those days and would tell us the stories over and over so we wouldn't forget them and each time it was as if it was the first time he was telling it, with such heart and soul! I want justice to be served not only for my grandfather and his family but to the armenians who lost their lives for their christian beliefs and for their lands. Hopefully some day soon jusitce will prevail! Thanks for letting me share my story!

On more thing:
We might be living in the present, but the past will always be a part of us!

A note: When Kim said that her dad was 1/2 Turkish-Armenian and 1/2 Russian-Armenian, it does not mean that he had Turkish and Russian blood in him. It means that he is 100% Armenian, but that his grandparents LIVED in Turkey & Russia.

Like the Genocide too. Armenians lived in Turkey, but that doesn't mean they were Turkish by blood...they just happened to live there.

Kim i admire you for being the bigger person and giong back to your heritage that is awesome...but you cant always please everyone do what you want and fuck the ppl that are tryna to change you i mean just because thats what THEY would do or THEY say THEY would DO doesnt mean you have to do it to please them...but i do admire your going to your country and learning more about your heritage...:)

I love your show by the way!!

kim, i have so much respect for you after this post. don't get me wrong, i respected you before and thought you were great, but this blog is just WOW.

i love how you're honest about not knowing everything about the Armenian culture (who really know everything about their culture, anyways?), and the fact that you do want to learn more. i am of an ethnic background and can get overwhelmed from all the expectations of knowing this and that and when i don't know something .. i'm labeled as this sell out who doesn't care about my culture. it's hard to know a lot about your culture when you don't live on your homeland.

the media loves to start rumors and put people down .. and this is just another example. in their pathetic attempts in trying to make money, they then try to convince the public that you're this horrible person who doesn't appreciate your culture.

i think it's great that you didn't want to film your dinner with your family. you already share so much ..

when you visit armenia, i hope you're still blogging so we can read all about it.. your true fans believe in you, kim!

p.s. i hope you can find a way to have a log in on your website to protect peoples' identities.

Kim, I am actually suprised yet in a good way that you took the time to write a blog about the genocide. The media did actually depict it as if you could care less. The fact that you are interested in the history and took the time to ask questions means alot. I am an american born armenian as well. It means alot to all of us that we have someone like you in the media! You make us proud like your father did along with many other Armenians out there making things happen. Thanks for representing all the beautiful women of our culture.

Hi Kim,
I am also an American born Armenian as well. I grew up going to Armenian School on Saturdays, but unfortunately did not become fluent in the language. Just because I cannot speak the language does not make me less of an Armenian. I am very proud of my Armenian heritage. Someday I will visit Armenia as well. I get very excited when Armenian people who are in the public eye acknowledge and bring awareness of our people to others. We are very proud and passionate people who try to do right by respecting our families and our reputations. Unfortunately, sometimes there are kinks that happen, but we learn from past mistakes to make better futures. I think your father would be very proud of your respect for learning about our culture and promoting it. Wishing you much success and happiness in life.

Kim! I am SOOOO happy to hear that you are goin to learn more about being Armenian. Im 100% Armenian, the Armenian Genocide is a veryy important thing to learn about if your Armenian. I think once you visit Armenia you will want to learn everything and evverything and your not goin to want to come home. VISIT Khorveerab, visit AKH TAMAR visit all the churches and see your motherland. Your going to absolutely LOVE IT! Your not goin to want to come home.I feel So happy to know that your sharing your feelings about being Armenian to us. I love it and i feel more proud to say that Kim Kardashian is Armenian, and so i am, i love it!!!! have fun and please tell us all about it!! and Armenian Genocide April 24, 1915 NEVER FORGET the FORGOTTEN! <3

ok very good. hope you'll have many moments to remember with your children

Let me know when you guys go to Armenia ill sure joinn you guys and make sure you guys see everyting and have a great time there=)

Kim, i think this is the best thinking you and your siblings have ever done, because i promise you that after you return, all of you would have a new meaning to your lives and certainly a much deeper appreciation of your heritage. I highly recommend you watch the documentary "Long Journey to Armenia" about a 3rd generation half Armenian NFL player who recently went to Armenia, as i think the effect of Armenia on you will be similar. Although i recommend you go around summer season (August or September) to get the best touristy experience and enjoy the outdoor cafe culture and night life, good luck!

Hey Kim
Thats soo kool you decided to visit Armenia. I was there last summer for the first time in 20 years. I was born in Armenia but moved to US when I was three. But I do speak fluently in Armenian.
Armenia is an awesome place to visit. It is old and beautiful! The temple's and the church's are amazing. I would recommend getting the 'tour' since its your first time, you will get to see alot more than just going by yourself.
Definatly make sure you visit, Garni-Gexart, Xorvirap, Echmiastin. They are breathtaking. The people in Armenia are very rude though, and if you are wearing something kute, they stare at you like your from a different planet. both girls and guys. Even 60 year olds. That was my experience. And when you walk into some stores, they follow you around like you are a shoplifter. The only best advice I can give you is take ALOT of picture, go to the club's and have FUN!
Take Care!

This video captures the beauty of Armenia and its culture- singing in an incredible church there you need to visit. It's dark and hard to see but the singing is more than worth it:

Hello my name is Jose Miguel i am from Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela ... We admire much're an excellent person and the best model of the world and I do not lose even a chapter of KEEPING UP THE WHIT KARDASHIANS in E. .. As for the Armenian genicidio good as the word says it was a genocio, a brutal slaughter of things which the world should not have ... Well I wish you success in your future plans around the world of love, happiness and health ... Kisses ...

hello Kim, I would like to appolagise for what I have said in the past about 'if u realy cared u would writte something about the Armenian Genocide' im sorry, i realy am i didnt know all the facts and when i red ur msg my eyes filled up. Im a very proud Armenian gurl! my Great grandparents escapped the genocide and were taken to neighbouring countrys, Lebanon, where my parents grew up, (btw there are ALOT of Armenians in Lebanon and neighbouring coutrys), and then had to escape becose of the civil war in Lebanon!!! now we live in Canada.. very safe coutry thank God
Ive never been to Armenia becos i have to work full time during summer and in winter i have schooll but my plan is to go there next summer or the summer after when im done with my studies. I know alot about the armenian genocide, history etc becos i went to an Armenian school here in montreal.. its an amazing beautiful coutry from what ive heard and seen. Once again im sorry for what ive said earlyer and im happy that ur doing ur best to do something about it becos the Armenian Genocide is no joke and its the reason why most of the Armenians are not in Armenia and live in other countrys. luv u kim

BooYa!!!

Hey miss Kim don't let these neg comments get you down. You are only human and besides like you said the first few generations haven't even been to Armenia so I think it'll be a good educational experience for ya'll to visit there and learn more.On another note your making me miss home see I'm from Shreveport and we are stationed up in Washington state. On a good note for you your only like 5hrs away from New Orleans.Good luck with everything e.i heritage, movie and other endeavors!

Kim... Armenia is not your country hun...Just because you have armenian descent in you, doesn't mean that Armenia is your country. For those who are upset because you spent the day shopping on Armenian Holocaust day, are over reacting, and taking it to a whole other level because, it should be just any regular day to you. It's okay to show sympathy towards the subject, but come on. My parents were born in Italy, but I was born here, so italy is not my country, America is.

What about your mother's half? You never say anything about that. Is being German, Irish, Scottish a bad or boring thing?

Hey Kim! I love your whole family. You guys are awesome! I have noticed how much love and respect you have toward your father as you remember him very often and I think that your visit to Armenia will make him very proud. As for April 24th, don't let anyone's comments get to you. Just the fact that you came back and spent time explaining yourself really gave you many many points! I love you more! I, being 100% Armenian, have the most respect for you and your family. I am and will always be one of your biggest fans! I can't wait to see your next episode.

o my gosh u people !!! 'Kim... Armenia is not your country hun...Just because you have armenian descent in you, doesn't mean that Armenia is your country. ' thats the stooooopidest thing ive ever read... i mean seriously it is her country... its every Armenians country, even if your 1/4 Armenian if u love and respect your people and your nationnality then it is ur country, just becos ur born in AMerica does not make u less of an Armenian!!! and i have alot a couple of friends who are 1/2 armenian, 1/2 syrian but they consider themselves armenian becos there parents instilled in them more of the Armenian culture sooo that doesnt make them not love there syrian side !!! so im sure Kim doesnt think her moms side is boring but considers herself more Armenian

1/3 of Armenians live outside of their homeland because of Genocide.
The love, respect to their culture helps them not to forget about who they are and where they come from.
We are small yet proud nation.

Hey Kim,
I think it's great that you're going to go to Armenia and learning more about your heritage! People have been putting you down for being superficial on the day of the Genocide, but come on - how many people really know anything about their own heritage? I'm Italian and can honestly say that I don't know much about the history of Italy at all. My grandparents aren't from Italy but their parents are, so it's back a couple generations. I hope to go to Italy someday and learn more, but until then...

When you guys do go, let us know how it was! Maybe it will motivate more people to do the same thing :)

xoxo

Hi kim, it's cool that your going to Armenia, I was born in Iran, but my family is from Afhganistan, which is near Armenia and I hope to go to my country one day as well!

hey kim its conciderate of you to answer to the comment, but i get the feeling you always do things when other people mention. its your own job and responsibility to take care of what matters to u most.. dont just do things because other people mention or expect you do the same..

Good for you, I think its really important to know where you come from. Give yourself some pride!!

When you go to Armenia, visit all you family members especially the older ones. they can tell you a thing or two about where you come from.

I think you should be careful now since your talking about being Armenian.

The Turks have a campaign where they harrass people who are Armenian who talk about the Genocide, so dont be suprised if u get hate mail.

Cher went to Armenia, maybe someone can put you in contact with her. I'm sure she can give you good tips. She went to learn about her culture too.

I would try and talk to Serj Tankian from System of a Down, he knows alot about Armenia.

Hi Kim...btw, your last name, and you probably know this by now translates to stone cutter. 'Kar-dash' (kar=rock, dash=cut). Your ancestors were probably masons or stone cutters, but in Armenian culture they were more than likely those who created the beautiful cross made of rock. (KatchKar). When you get to Armenia you will see alot of these cross' also you can look em up on the internet.

Hi Kim,

It's great of you to take a stance on your being half Armenian. I just read that you are planning a visit to Armenia to digg into your cultural heritage. That's great.

I am an Armenian as well, living in NC and am very proud of being an Armenian, helping my country and contributing to the social life in USA.

Would you consider giving us an interview about your upcoming trip to Armenia. I think bringing some more media attention would benefit our country by bringing more toursits to Armenia.

Thank you.
Armen

Kim,

I am 100% Armenian and I think it's great that you are going to Armenia with your sisters and brother. My GrandFather escaped the genocide and so did his brother. They were the only two that survived. I have so many stories from my GrandFather. I would like to share them. My Mother went to Armenia and she said it was beautiful and she enjoyed it. My son goes to a private Armenian School and they take the 5th graders every year at the end of the school year to Armenia and I cannot wait until my son is that age so we can go and I can explore were my family is from.

Hey Kim...love the show! I think it's a great idea for you and your siblings to go explore your heritage.

PS - Is there going to be any DVD of the show coming out?

BEFORE ANYBODY READS THIS AND RESPONDS ANGRILY, PLEASE NOTE THAT I WITHHOLD ABSOLUTELY NO DISRESPECT TO THOSE WHOSE FAMILIES SUFFERED IN THIS TIME PERIOD. HOWEVER, I FEEL IT IS IMPORTANT TO CLARIFY AN UNBIASED OPINION - NOT TURKISH, NOT ARMENIAN, BUT AMERICAN:

Dr. Leon Picon, reviewing the book, "THE ARMENIAN FILE":

For nearly a century, the Western World has wholeheartedly accepted that there has been an attempt by the Ottoman Turks to systematically destroy the Armenian people, comparable to what the Nazis committed upon the Jews during World War II. Many Armenians who have settled in America, Europe and Australia (along with other parts of the world, known as "The Armenian Diaspora") have clung to the tragic events of so long ago as a form of ethnic identity, and have considered it their duty to perpetuate this myth, with little regard for facts... at the same time breeding hatred among their young. As descendants of the merchant class from the Ottoman Empire, Armenians have been successful in acquiring the wealth and power to make their voices heard... and they have made good use of the "Christian" connection to gain the sympathies of Westerners who share their religion and prejudices.

Turks characteristically shun propaganda, and have chosen not to dwell on the tragedies of the past, forging ahead to build upon brotherhood — not hate. This is why the horrifying massacres committed upon the Turks, Kurds and other Ottoman Muslims by Armenians have seldom been heard. When such reports are heard, Westerners can be callously dismissive... Turkish lives are apparently as meaningless to them as Indian lives were to most early Americans.

Certainly, Armenians were killed as a result of massacres... often by their Muslim neighbors, in reprisal for the murderous acts committed by the Armenians (when they sided with the Russian enemy in hopes of carving out their own independence); but anybody who calls acts of massacres a "genocide" doesn't know the meaning of the word. (At least the way most of us perceive the meaning, as with what Hitler did to the Jews; the legal definition of genocide is essentially meaningless, and can be applied to almost any conflict.) If a genocide is how you like to describe what happened to the Armenians, then you need to refer to what American soldiers committed in My Lai as a "genocide."

Another irony is that while Armenians have been doing their utmost to portray Turks as Nazis (in an effort to equate themselves with Holocaust victims, the one group best known to have fallen prey to genocide), Turks did their best to save Jews during World War II... while European Armenians actively supported the Nazi cause.

SO, TO CONCLUDE THAT PROPERLY. YES, A TRAGEDY OCCURED...BUT FOR MANY PEOPLE. SUCH A ONE-SIDED ACCOUNT OF AN ENTIRE HISTORY COMPLETELY DISREGARDS THE METHODOLOGY BY WHICH HISTORIANS WORK.

FACTUAL ACCOUNT:

Ethnic conflict between Turks and Armenians actually began more than 100 years before World War I. Actions of the Russian Empire precipitated the conflict. In 1800, Armenians were scattered within and beyond a region that now encompasses Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Eastern Turkey. In all but small districts, Armenians were a minority which had been under Muslim, primarily Turkish, rule for 700 years. The Russian Empire had begun the imperial conquests of the Muslim lands south of the Caucasus Mountains. One of their main weapons was the transfer of populations — deportation. They ruthlessly expelled whole Muslim populations, replacing them with Christians whom they felt would be loyal to a Christian government. Armenians were a major instrument of this policy. Like others in the Middle East, the primary loyalty of Armenians was religious. Many Armenians resented being under Muslim rule, and they were drawn to a Christian State and to offers of free land (land which had been seized from Turks and other Muslims). A major population exchange began. In Erivan Province (today the Armenian Republic) a Turkish majority was replaced by Armenians. In other regions such as coastal Georgia, Circassia, and the Crimea, other Christian groups were brought in to replace expelled Muslims. There was massive Muslim mortality—in some cases up to one-third of the Muslims died.

The Russians expelled 1.3 million Muslims from 1827 to 1878. One result of this migration, serving the purposes of the Russians, was the development of ethnic hatred and ethnic conflict between Armenians and Muslims. Evicted Muslims who had seen their families die in the Russian Wars felt animosity toward Armenians. Armenians who hated Muslim rule looked to the Russians as liberators. Armenians cooperated with Russian invaders of Eastern Anatolia in wars in 1828, 1854, and 1877. When the Russians retreated, Armenians feared Muslim retaliation and fled. Hatred grew on both sides.

The situation was exacerbated by rebellions of Armenian revolutionaries in the 1890s in which cities in Eastern Anatolia were seized and many Muslims and Armenians were killed. Intercommunal warfare between Turks and Armenians in Azerbaijan during the Russian Revolution of 1905 added to the peoples’ distrust of each other. Muslims and Armenians were now divided into sides, antagonists. Each group believed that in a war they would be killed if they did not kill first, a classic self-fulfilling prophecy. Most Muslims and most Armenians had no wish to be a part of this, but they were caught in the awful consequences of their expectations and their history.

Intercommunal war erupted when the Ottoman Empire entered World War I. Armenian revolutionaries, many trained in Russia, attempted to seize main Ottoman cities in Eastern Anatolia. They took the city of Van and held it until Russia invaders arrived, killing all but a few of the Muslims of the city and surrounding villages. In the countryside, Muslim tribesmen killed the Armenians who fell into their hands. Armenian and Kurdish bands killed throughout the East, and massacre was the rule of the time. Russian and Ottoman regular troops were less murderous, but they too gave little quarter to those viewed as the enemy. Some of the worst civilian deaths of Turks and Armenians came at the end of the war. The killing went on until 1920. Many more died of starvation and disease than from bullets.

The results were among the worst seen in warfare. More than forty per cent of the Anatolian Armenians died; similar mortality was the fate of the Muslims of the war zone. In the province of Van, for example, 60% of the Muslims were lost by war’s end.

During the war, each side engaged in de facto deportations of the other. When the Russians and Armenians triumphed, all the Muslims were exiled, as were all the Armenians when the Ottomans triumphed. The Ottoman government also organized an official deportation of Armenians in areas under their control. None of these deportations was wholly justified by wartime necessity, but the deportations were not acts of one-sided genocide on the part of either Turks or Armenians.

Kim,

I give you a lot of credit. That is great that you want to learn more about your heritage. I don’t know why people were so upset or offended by your post that day. It was almost like they were waiting for you not to post about it. I don’t know, but my Great Great Grandparents were the ones that came over from Germany, and other surrounding countries. I do not speak their language. I do not know a lot about their culture, or their backgrounds. I mean, should I? Maybe so. The point is that now we are Americans. Our ancestors came over to America for a better life. I am not saying we should forget our roots, but we are making our own history right here in America. I think people get bent out of shape over sometimes the wrong things.

Best of luck!

I think it's wonderful that you want to know about your backround and learn a little more about what your ancestors have gone through. For you and your family to actually be standing on this earth and live life as you are today is a blessing that came from a past to help better your future. Basically, it's something your never forget and you can pass that down to your little ones, soon one day to have.

P.S. I just wish I had a mom and dad like you were fortunate to have. My life sucked without having my parents love.

Hey Kim,

I'm glad that you're going to plan a trip to Armenia. I went to Armenia my senior year in high school. Since I attended an Armenian private school the seniors went to Armenia for their senior year trip. I have many pictures of all the places we visited, and I'll be happy to go with you guys to show you guys around there. If you want email me at cmoradians@aol.com and I'll give you info that will be helpful for your trip, and show you all the beautiful pictures we took there.

Christine

Some people don't understand the importance of knowing your culture and where your roots are from. My grandmother (I'm 1/4th Armenian, but proud!) was Armenian and taught me a lot. Armenia is a small country with a rich history (First country accept Christianity). There are many famous Armenians, such as, Kirk Kirkorian, billionaire (one of the richest people on this planet), who basically developed Vegas to what it is today (He owns a large portion of the Vegas hotels to this day). Cher is another famous Armenian, as well as Andre Agassi, System of a Down, etc. You'd be amazed at the list and what an impact a country of 5 million has!

There are so many Irish, Italian, German, French people in the world, but Armenia is a small country and if Armenians forget who they are and assimilate, the country will no longer exist. That's why it is important to visit your homeland, see where you come from, accept your country and embrace the culture! It's a beautiful place with the most amazing historical sites as well as delicious food, fun nightly entertainment, beautiful weather, and nice people.

I'm glad you're proud of your roots Kim, because trust me, being Armenian is something to be definitely be proud of! :)
