Kim I think your so right on this subject. And I also think people shouldn't judge by someone's color. So many girls will just date one race and I think there's so many wonderful ethnicities that should be explored. BUT, religion is different. Since, thats one of the number 1 problems of divorce behind financial problems. So I think people should date different races but, date within there religion. Trust me I've almost made that mistake. At first its not a big deal but, than you realize you have very different opinions on how to raise your children etc.

Honestly if your family says they won't let you see someone..the only way to make it work is being financially indepedent. That way your on your own and you can be with whoever you want, & your family eventually learns to accept it. I am puerto rican and I date a black man. I love him death and he is wonderful. I have a wonderful family who loves him as much as I do. My father wasnt thrilled at first but he has opened up alot and loves him too. I do however just alot of hate from black women. It's something you have to ignore and learn that there will always be someone hating on you, supporting you and secretly hating and then there are those who are with you till the very end... keep those close and I encourage everyone out there who is dealing with this subject... as long as he or she is a good person and you love them and they treat you right, go and do your thing.

I think race will always be hard for people to accept. It's still a person underneath it all. I never knew why people don't understand that. I date my race and I date outside my race. I don't put one preference over the other. I find sexy men in all races.

And to add to my previous post. This is not all about black women being angry with black men dating white women. I've dated several white guys and many hateful remarks were said to my face by WHITE MEN AND WOMEN. It came to the point where my ex had to choose between me and his best friend and it shouldnt have come to that. so this story doesn't go one way only!

I think that Kim gave great advice. I am very fortunate that my family would be ok with whomever i choose to date. The only concern would be if i am being treated well. You should always follow your heart. Make sure to always use your head. Going against your family is never easy, so make sure he is worth it.

Thanks Kim, this topic really hits home for me. I am white and have always dated black guys. My parents don't agree. I have been with the same guy for over 12 years and my parents still can't deal. My dad hates him just because of his skin color. It is starting to cause problems with our relationship b/c I am always invited to everything with his family. His family is great. He couldn't even come to my sister's wedding because of my dad. I have went every route with my parents, they just can't accept it. I feel like I am playing tug-a-war between him and my family.

Some of you have been asking Kim what her measurements are. She took her measurements on Wendy Williams show. They are: boobs 35(didn't say cup size) 26 waist and 39 1/2 to 40 on hips. After finding out her measurements I have to say I don't see what all the fuss in Hollywood is about how big her butt is. Not trying to offend you Kim. I took my measurements and they are 34C 29 waist and 40 hips and I'm 5'6". Guess I would have a Kim K booty if I lived in Hollywood too especially being surrounded by stick figures.

Thank you for this post, Kim. I think you're incredibly brave for dating outside of your race. It's especially tough for the children of immigrants because [in my opinion], [not all, but many] immigrant parents are ethnocentric. My father told me he'd prefer I marry an Asian man. He said I can have fun with any other race for now, but to marry within my culture. He has also been pretty up front about his racism towards African Americans. It's appalling, but I am glad I don't share his perspective.

However, I know he has the old school prejudice mentality, and therefore, has never met any of my black boyfriends! Which was okay, because they were no good anyway, lol. Why are so many girls so foolish to date black guys?? Obviously they aren't very informed with American society. The whites in New Orleans stole needed items for survival like food and medicine while blacks stole many shoes. Blacks also fail to get educated while schooling is free and speak proper English. I'm Armenian myself & married to a wonderful black guy & we have a 10 month old beautiful daughter. My parents never approved of it & when I told them I was getting married they freaked out & told me that they were never going to speak to me again. My dad didn't come to our wedding my mom did. Now they couldn't be happier with my choice. I followed my heart & did what I felt was right. They love my daughter more than words can say. It’s hard in the beginning but if you feel that certain someone is the one, than go for it! Everything will work out at the end. They are your family they are just trying to scare you. Live your life for you not for everyone else.

I have some of the same issues. I have a dad that's iranian, and he doesn't care what race of people I date, but for some reason, my mom really wants me to date an iranian guy because they don't believe in divorce. I think that just because someone doesn't believe in divorce isn't the only reason to marry them. I haven't ever really been attracted to an iranian guy, and for some reason I just don't think I ever will be. I'm usually attracted to white guys just because that is who I have grown up around. And my cousin is getting married in the middle of June, and his fiance has a really attractive brother. He's white, and I really like him. Do you think I should go for it, or do you think I shouldn't? We aren't going to be first cousins or anything, so that really isn't an issue. I really need advice...

I completely understand because I go though it. I don’t think that my parents have excepted anyone of the guys I have dated, but what I don’t understand till this day my grandfather has not excepted my dad in his life. So if my mom has gone though it why would she do it to me. I think it’s great for you to bring this subject up especially for the young girls that don’t know how to speak to there parents because I was one of those girls at one point.

Well, I am also of Armenian descent. My parents always freak out when I tell them that I'm going to go date someone out of my race! There is no easy way to make parents understand what you do. Especially if they are strict! Parents always think they are right and nothing will change their opinion. Take chances and live your life the way you want to!

So I watch the show and I also come from a large family of eight. I was just thinking about how well you and your sisters get along. I like how you all hang out together it is so cool. My just wondering if it was always like that? Did you ever not get along? Also did you start your Dash store yourself or was that a group thing?

I am middle eastern, and ya...really cant relate to this girl all to much because well, im really into middle eastern guys, but its really hard. I mean, you might think that your parents wont "disown," you or anything, but many situations are different. i mean, your father is obviously an educated man, and he did marry outside his race, and he lived the whole LA life (rip), but i bet this girl, like many other middle eastern girls parents are BOTH middle eastern, probably either not educated, or if they are educated they havent been exposed to life like your father. i have an armenian friend who is allowed to have boyfriends, and then i myself, and other friends arnt allowed to have boyfriends. things change, so i honestly think this girl needs to be smart about her choices. no one knows her parents mre then her, and in the end, family are the people who will always be there fore you, and sometimes they feel like some guys arnt right. I wouldnt take the chance of loosing my family for some guy.
and kim, i see how much your into your family, and how upset you get when something you did effects your sisters, so obviously your family means more to you then any guy as well.

I am a black female that has only dated outside of my race..sometimes you are just more physically attracted to guys outside of your race and that is fine... dating interracially is beautiful...Diversity is the best! God bless

i think its really great that you spoke upon this subject, because alot of girls go through this very same situation, and the problem is that our parents generation still think that mixing races is a problem. im going through the same situation. My family is hard core traditional italian, and my boyfriend is black.. I am suffering tremendously and i feel bad for him because he is such a great person, but not accepted because of his skin color...

Well your father is white though, Armenian people are considered apart of the white race so he didnt marry outside his race, he married inside his race. Thats like saying an Italian married an irish person outside their race.
I'm 2nd generation Armenian American and usually date white guys, thats my own race but different nationalities. I never dated an Armenian guy because I never met any where I live.
You should have talked about what your mom and her family thought about it.
